Everything You Need to Know About Spatium

Browse answers to the most common questions about Spatium’s IoT parking platform, sensors, integrations, and deployment process.

General
What is Spatium?
Spatium is an IoT-powered parking management platform developed by Dimonoff. It uses real-time sensors, a cloud management platform, and open integrations to give parking operators complete visibility and control over their facilities.
Who is Spatium designed for?
Spatium serves private parking operators (malls, offices, hospitals, universities), municipal governments managing curbside and on-street parking, and smart city programs requiring open, scalable parking data infrastructure.
Is Spatium available outside of Canada?
Yes. Spatium is deployed across multiple countries. Its multi-protocol sensor support (LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, Zigbee) and APDS compliance make it suitable for international deployments. Contact us for your region's availability.
What languages does the platform support?
The Spatium management platform supports English, French, and Spanish, with additional language support available upon request for enterprise deployments.
Hardware
How does the MPS Sensor work?
The MPS (Magnetic Parking Sensor) uses a combination of magnetic field sensing and advanced algorithms to detect vehicle presence with 98% accuracy. It installs in minutes — either overhead or embedded — and operates on battery power for 5+ years.
Does the MPS Sensor require wiring?
No. The MPS Sensor is completely wireless and battery-powered. There is no need for trenching, conduit, or electrical infrastructure. This dramatically reduces installation costs and time compared to wired systems.
How long does the sensor battery last?
The MPS Sensor battery lasts 5 years or more under typical deployment conditions (standard parking occupancy cycles). Low battery alerts are sent automatically to the management dashboard before any impact on performance.
What communication protocols does the MPS Sensor support?
The MPS Sensor supports LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, Zigbee, and BLE. This multi-protocol approach ensures compatibility with existing city or building network infrastructure and flexibility for future technology evolution.
What is the M1 Gateway and do I need it?
The M1 Gateway aggregates data from multiple MPS Sensors and transmits it to the Spatium cloud platform. One gateway typically covers hundreds of sensors. If you have an existing LoRaWAN or NB-IoT network, you may be able to use your current infrastructure instead.
Platform & Software
What does the Spatium platform dashboard show?
The dashboard provides a real-time occupancy map of all monitored spaces, zone-level utilization rates, historical trend charts, revenue analytics, alert logs, and customizable reports — all accessible from any browser or mobile device.
Can Spatium integrate with my existing systems?
Yes. Spatium is built on open APIs and supports integration with payment systems, ALPR cameras, access barriers, booking platforms, directional signs, and city traffic management platforms. A library of pre-built connectors is available for common systems.
Is Spatium a cloud-based platform?
Yes. Spatium operates on a secure cloud infrastructure with 99.9% uptime SLA. On-premise deployment options are available for enterprise clients with specific data sovereignty requirements.
Can I export data from the Spatium platform?
Absolutely. All data is exportable via CSV, JSON, or through the REST API. You can connect Spatium data to your BI tools, data warehouses, or third-party analytics platforms.
Deployment & Support
How long does a typical Spatium deployment take?
A typical deployment ranges from 4 to 12 weeks depending on the size of the facility and infrastructure complexity. The Royalmount deployment of 2,000+ sensors was completed in under 3 months. Smaller deployments (under 200 spaces) can go live in 2–3 weeks.
Is training provided for my team?
Yes. Spatium includes onboarding training for all platform administrators and operational staff. Ongoing training resources include video tutorials, documentation, and dedicated customer success support.
What support is available after deployment?
Spatium clients receive access to 24/7 technical support, a dedicated customer success manager, and regular platform updates. SLA tiers are available to match your operational requirements.
Is Spatium APDS compliant?
Yes. Spatium is fully compliant with the Alliance for Parking Data Standards (APDS), ensuring seamless interoperability with other APDS-compliant systems and easy data sharing with municipal and provincial authorities.
What is the pricing model for Spatium?
Spatium pricing is based on the number of monitored spaces and selected modules. Contact our sales team for a customized quote tailored to your facility size and requirements. Volume discounts are available for large deployments.
